metaSYN: An operational unified communication approach
Our world is constantly changing. Since the 1990s, we have therefore been talking about the VUCA concept: a world that is volatile, uncertain, complex and ambiguous. From 2020, the VUCA term has been replaced by the BANI model. BANI stands for brittle, anxious, non-linear and incomprehensible and describes a world characterized by fragile structures.
Both models are important for companies in terms of shaping their organization and business practices, as both concepts provide management strategies for achieving economic success in a world characterized by globalization, decentralization and rapid change.
This white paper presents a method of how information can flow in a target-oriented manner within the organization in what can be described as a “fluid” economic situation. The concept of unified communication serves as the basis. Unified communication is an approach that allows information to “flow” within the company and combines communication and collaboration in one system. The various publications on unified communication describe the methodology, but do not explain any concrete, operational implementation. For this reason, this article introduces the “metaSYN methodology” and presents a concrete implementation of unified communication based on Microsoft 365. In particular, the metaSYN approach represents the holistic mapping of the entire company, with a focus on establishing a unified communication solution with Microsoft Teams as the technical application. The metaSYN implementation process digitalizes the entire company according to the principle of unified communication, thereby achieving sustainable and long-term added value (business value).
